He has been playing bass and singing professionally for over sixteen years. Scott is famous for his involuntary facial contortions documented in lesser medical journals as "bassfaceicus magnus" aka bass face. His bass mentors include Ray Brown, Charles Mingus, Victor Wooten, Oteil Burbridge, and Mike Bub. Projects he has been involved with covered musical genres spanning from blues, funk, and jazz fusion to bluegrass.
